LA MAISON OUBLIEE/THE FORGOTTEN HOUSE, is a book, an installation and a performance.
*About the book and installation:
The starting point of the narrative is a childhood’s memory: "‘when I was a child, I thought that at least one forgotten house existed somewhere, preferably in the woods, where I could discretely settle. If I scroll through my memory, I have a very precise image of that house, I even feel that it truly existed. What would happen if one day this imaginary house ended up in the real world?" As the book unfolds, the darkening pages make the text illegible. With LA MAISON OUBLIEE/THE FORGOTTEN HOUSE, the book as object is part of the narrative, and the slow movement of the 105 pages towards complete darkness is right away perceived as a key narrative element by the reader.
*About the performance:
The actress Emilie Gruat and the musician Denis Schuler genuinely crafted this art installation into a theater and musical experience. At the end of their performance, the theater becomes a gallery and the performance a vernissage. Denis Schuller’s intruments (glasses filled with water, as ephemeral organs) also becomes elements of the exhibition.
Author/Artist: Dominique Robin
Dominique Robin belongs to that generation of artists who use very differing art media : text (A clinic In Guinea), photography (Students in Conakry), video (Les petites statues), sound (Fontaine, Murmures, ...) etc. His art installations are generally narrative, demanding the genuine participation and focused attention of viewers who are thus able to give full rein to their imagination. "My installations try to create intervals; between two drawings, two videos, two photos, there is a white space which is very liberating, from the spectator’s point of view. I like to think of my installations as marker buoys.”
